God's Great Pharmacy

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... all before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners...

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened f ruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Obama and McCain coming to Saddleback Church

It has taken a man of God, perhaps, to do what nobody else has been able to do since the general election season began: Get Barack Obama and John McCain together on the same stage before their party conventions later this summer.
The Rev. Rick Warren has persuaded the candidates to attend a Civil Forum at his Saddleback Church, in Lake Forest, Calif., on Aug. 16. In an interview, Mr. Warren said that the presidential candidates would appear together for a moment but that he would interview them in succession at his megachurch.
The forum still falls short of the kind of face-to-face, town-hall-style debates that Mr. McCain, of Arizona, has called for this summer before formal debates scheduled for this fall.
Mr. Warren, the author of the best-selling book "The Purpose-Driven Life," called each man personally to invite him to his event, which will focus on leadership, how they make decisions, and on some of Mr. Warren's areas of focus, like AIDS, poverty and the environment.

"I realized that these two guys had never been together on the same stage and thought it would be a great way to end the primary season before they both go to their conventions and things go dark for a couple of weeks," he said. "I've known both guys for some time, and both have been friends of mine since before they ran for office, so I just decided to invite them.." Both readily agreed, perhaps reflecting how each candidate is courting the evangelical audience to whom Mr. Warren ministers.
Mr. Warren's event will have as a co-sponsor Faith in Public Life, that held the Compassion Forum at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa., in April, featuring Mr. Obama and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in Pennsylvania ,Mr. Warren said he would devise his questions with input from the Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders.
"I'm not going to ambush them with 'gotcha' questions," Mr. Warren said, adding that a typical query might be, "What's the most difficult decision you've had to make, and what process did you use to make it?"
Mr. Warren said he would have Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama, of Illinois, appear on stage together momentarily at the event, though, he added, he would also see if they want to get a little personal time behind the scenes.

Thoughts...

"The secret of health for both mind and body
is not to mourn for the past,
worry about the future,
or anticipate troubles,
but to live in the present moment
wisely and earnestly."

How to drive in Los Angeles

1. You must first learn to pronounce the city name: It is L. A.

2. The morning rush hour is from 5:00 a.m. to noon. The evening rush hour is from noon to 7:00 p.m. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning.

3 The minimum acceptable speed on most freeways is 85 mph. On the 105 or 110, your speed is expected to match the highway number. Anything less is considered 'Wussy.'

4. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. L. A. has its own version of traffic rules. For example, cars/trucks with the loudest muffler go first at a 4-way stop; the trucks with the biggest tires go second However, in Malibu , SUV-driving, cell phone-talking moms ALWAYS have the right of way.

5. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended, cussed out, and possibly shot.

6 Never honk at anyone. Ever. Seriously. It's another offense that can get you shot.

7. Road construction is permanent and continuous in all of L. A. and Orange counties. Detour barrels are moved around for your entertainment pleasure during the middle of the night to make the next day's driving a bit more exciting.

8. Watch carefully for road hazards such as drunks, skunks, dogs, cats, barrels, cones, celebs, rubber-neckers, shredded tires, cell-phoners, deer and other road kill, and the coyotes feeding on any of these items.

9. Map Quest does not work here -- none of the roads are where they say they are or go where they say they do and all the freeway off and on ramps are moved each night.

10. If someone actually has their turn signal on, wave them to the shoulder immediately to let them know it has been 'accidentally activated'

11. If you are in the left lane and only driving 70 in a 55- 65 mph zone, you are considered a road hazard and will be 'flipped off' accordingly. if you return the flip, you'll be shot.

12. Do not try to estimate travel time -- just leave Monday afternoon for Tuesday appointments, by noon Thursday for Friday and right after church on Sunday for anything on Monday morning.

13. And finally 'Why is the L. A. Freeway called the '405'? Because no matter where you are going, it takes 4 or 5 hours to get there.

Community Picnic and Meeting Kay Warren

Yesterday was the Community Picnic sponsored by Saddleback Church, Orange County Islamic Foundation and Islamic Center of Irvine at Heritage Park in Irvine. It was a fun day planned to build a bridge between Islam and Christianity by enjoying a day together. Our Muslims neighbors often feel ostracized due to guilt by association with radical militants. The truth is, Al Qaeda no more represents Islam that the Ku Klux Klan represented Christianity. Both were perversions.
The highlight of the day was meeting Kay Warren. She is married to Rick Warren (the Pastor of my church) and has invested her heart, resources and life to pioneer an HIV/AIDS initiative. She has risked so much in order to positively affect the lives of those infected and affected by HIV throughout the world. One main focus is helping those living in Kibuye, Rwanda. Over 600,000 Rwandans will be touched by this ministry. She is hoping for a better life for billions of people.
The aim of the Inititiave is to, "dramatically increase access to quality healthcare in Western Rwanda by forming unique parternerships, thus promoting healthier lives, preserving families, protecting children, and building stronger communities." This will be accomplished by:
  • Training local churches in primary health care
  • Increasing the infrastructure of the community health system
  • Increasing the capacity of existing health care providers
  • Expanding the care delivery to include expert HIV services
  • Linking the community health and hospital health care systems together
  • Developing church-based health care solutions and delivery systems

I am prayerfully considering going on a P.E.A.C.E (Promote reconciliation Equip Leaders Assist the poor Care for the sick Educate the next generation) mission trip to Rwanda for 17 days this November / December. More to follow!

We enjoyed a Middle Eastern Lunch and dessert and enjoyed people watching

What's that smell?

Last Spring my sister, mom and I went to a Perfume Extravaganza at Nordstrom. They had over a hundred vendors with samples and gift sets of all of the top selling and specialty frangrances. I chose Angel as my perfume and was excited to get it personalized by an artist who painted the bottle.
I've worn it a few times, have received comments from friends... "What are you wearing?" and "I can smell your perfume."
This weekend Ziad kept saying, "I keep smelling this smell... did you swith deodarants?" I became paranoid. Took a shower... changed my clothes... put on perfume.... "Nope! You still smell!"
"How can I smell? I just showered and put on perfume!"
"Let me smell your perfume..."
Ziad smells my Angel ~ the one in the pretty bottle.
"Yes! That's it! It smells terrible... I can't stand it! Smells like you need to wear deodarant!"
I couldn't get to Nordstrom fast enough to exchange that perfume. I told the sales woman that the perfume, "reacts funny to my body chemistry," and I wondered if I could exchange it for something else.
She smiled and said, "It's not just you. I've always thought that Angel smells like BAD BODY ODOR!"
She kindly exchanged it and recommended I stick with something, "a little fresher."
Thank you, Ziad... who knows how long people have been offended!

Los Angeles Anaheim Angels Hoopla

Ziad scored awesome tickets to the Angels game. Our seats were field level on the third base line. We brought his sister-in-law Traci and sweet three year old niece, Laci.

Can't go to a baseball game without a whole lot of bubble gum...

Red and White...

Laci loved her first baseball game. I can't say that she watched much of the game... but enjoyed the bouncing beach ball, the crowd and a pretzel and popcorn dinner!

Group Shot...

The Angels defense was offensive. 7-3, Bluejays

One super-duper cutie patootie... DYLAN!

My friend Lindsey (Best bud from college) sent me this pictures of her son, Dylan Jackson. He's 14 months old and sooooooooo cute! They live in Portland, so I don't get to see them often enough. Whenever I talk to Lindsey on the phone I can hear him saying, "Hi! Hi! Hi!" He's learning at an early age that mom on the phone = be a mad man!
