Day 3 ~ St. Thomas and St. John, Virgin Islands

Today, we took some advice from friends and took a taxi to Red Hook and then a ferry to St. John. There, we enjoyed Trunk Bay ~ snorkeling and lounging on the beach.

Trunk Bay, St. John. It's no wonder that this is one of the world's most photographed beaches. It has powder thin white sand and crystal turquoise waters.

We met a family from North Carolina. There 5 year old, Emily and I made fast friends. She was content to play in the water all day.

The beach was not crowded at all, which made it very peaceful and relaxing.

Here we go!

We snorkeled on the Snorkel Trail, which leads snorkelers along a 675 foot trail full of fish and coral.

My underwater camera captured a few shots, but didn't do justice. The waters were crystal clear and the fish were all within reach.

A crab decided to settle in for an afternoon snooze right next to my beach towel!

Loving paradise

We took our cue to leave as the rain clouds rolled in! But thankfully we had our full day of sun anyway...

These "taxis" are the common mode of transportation among the Virgin Islands. It reminded me of a Disneyland tram. Only difference? The drivers aren't quite as smooth or cautious and the roads are very windy! It was quite an experience after the beach as the sand and dampness from our bathing suits made the seats extra slippery!

We walked around St. John for a bit before taking the ferry back to St. Thomas. This picture is for you, Tirza... I know that you are a chick lover!

No way! My sweet Hello Kitty in St. Thomas! I knew I liked this place!!!!

Tonight was formal night. We got spiffed up and had a great meal in the dining room. Following dinner we caught the show with the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers.

What a view from our table!

Cheers! (But Tommy drank my glass too! :D )

Our new friends, Gilbert and Anna from NYC. We hung out quite a bit throughout the trip.

And our other table mates and new Canadian friends, Jennifer and Gord.
We lucked out to sit by people who were our age and that we had quite a bit in common with. Gilbert and Anna both work in Hospitals doing machine repairs and nursing. Jennifer is an 8th Grade Teacher (bless her heart!) and Gord works at Home Depot AND is a professional pool player. We all talked nonstop during dinner and experienced the "ship night life" every evening.

Being goofy and the "professional photo" set.
Tomorrow is St. Maarten. I'm loving this vacation!
